The market for entry level phones is extremely saturated recently. All the major players vying to grab attention by producing phones full of great spec without hurting their customer’s wallet.

LG have shown their hand too now, their recent introduction being the K22 Plus, also known as LM-K200HAW, which was unveiled in Brazil in September this year.

As mentioned, this phone was unveiled in Brazil, so the review is based on a Factory Unlocked International Version model of the LG K22 Plus, you may purchase one, with 2 Day Free Delivery and lowest price available from here.

The Review:

The LG K22 Plus feels like an entry level phone, with its plastic back and feel to it. That is where that feeling ends, because this phone is well packed, built and spec-full that seems to make you think just how they can produce such a good device for so little cost.

K22 Plus boasts an impressive spec for the price range, a 6.2” HD+ V Notch Display (720 x 1520 Pixels), 3GB RAM, 64GB Internal memory with the ability to add a further 128GB via MicroSDXC on a dedicated slot, Qualcomm 215 Mobile Platform with 1.3 GHz Quad-core processor. Add the 13MP Dual rear cameras that produces crisp and detailed shots (anti-blur tech built-in), and 3000mAh Battery, makes this phone a very impressive and capable piece of kit.

The Qualcomm 215 Mobile Platform (QM215 28nm) with 1.3 GHz Quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 Processor runs smooth and efficiently, in particular running seamlessly when switching between apps and tasks.

Cameras takes decent photos in a wide variety of situations. Pictures are sharp and steady thanks in large to the PDAF Technology which reduces blur and increases focus on the object for better quality images. The Macro lens, which enables close-up shots (4cm) does a good job too. And then there is the 5MP selfie camera records videos in full HD (1920 x 1080).

There are, however, a couple of negative points too. The plastic casing isn’t to everyone’s taste, although that is the standard for this category. The other being that LG have decided to go with Micro USB 2.0 and 6W USB Charger, which takes much longer to charge if you are in a rush.

Having said that, it is to be expected for an entry level phone which packs so much that it should not be a deal breaker by any means.

Final Words:

The K22 Plus is an excellent entry level phone, packed with great spec and price. There are few other alternatives out there but this one definitely stands out as one of the best in the category and price range.
