  2. Slow charge
  3. Finger-print sensor can be frustrating

Motorola have been known for mid-range Moto G Series, which has been a successful range for the company. The new addition to the G family has been upgraded generously, with double the memory, faster processor, extra cameras to name a few.

We are of course talking about the Motorola Moto G8 Power. For purpose of this article, it is the Factory Unlocked International Version model of the Moto G8 Power, which you can purchased from here. So let’s take a deeper look!

The overview:

As refreshers go, this one adds to the cost of this phone. Mainly because the Processor has been upgraded from Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 to the 665, the RAM doubled from 2GB to 4GB, and the screen upgraded to 1080p resolution.

Just to show off or keep up with the trends nowadays, the number of cameras have been expanded too, from a single one on G7 Power to 4 on G8 Power, which is a letdown but more on that later.

The Moto G8 Power had some upgrades on the Processor and RAM front, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 paired with 4GB RAM – and embedded Adreno 610 GPU – does a really good job and pulls this device clear of its predecessor comfortably.

Moto G8 Power’s screen has been upgraded from HD to full HD, on a 6.4 inch IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 2300 x 1080, producing 399 pixels per inch. It may not sound a lot but it is a definite improvement overall compared to Moto G7 Power.

Now let’s focus on the cameras. The Moto G8 Power’s cameras has been upgraded to quadruple cameras on the rear (16MP Wide, 8MP Telephoto, 8MP Ultrawide and 2MP Macro). The front camera also has a facelift, a punch hole on top left as opposed to a v-notch previously. The 2x optical zoom magnification is a surprise but nice addition too, which adds to the fun of snapping. Although the cameras do disappoint even with the upgrade and the addition of extra lenses, but still takes good shots, especially during well-lit environments.

The standout spec on this device has to be the Battery, at 5000 mAh, it is one of the best in a sub-$500 smartphone, (Hence the name Moto Power which refers to the Battery). Motorola claim, if used moderately, the battery should last 3 full days, which is almost unheard of in today’s budget smartphones. Of course that adds to the weight and perhaps the overall design of the phone, but finding a handset with that kind of battery power is rare indeed.

Verdict:

The Moto G8 Power, rummages through its competitors with its Battery power, but the cameras disappoint nonetheless. For best prices on this & other latest Android devices, checkout wirelessplace.com where you can expect your purchase within 2 days with complementary 2 day shipping.
