Top Xiaomi Phones In The Market: Where Are They Made?

Xiaomi is one of the top smartphone brands to ever rise in the industry, which intrigued the people’s curiosity as to where their products are originally made.

It was in 2011 when the first-ever Xiaomi smartphone was released into the market. A few years after the initial launch, it has become China’s largest smartphone company and currently the 4th largest smartphone manufacturer in the world.

Where are Xiaomi phones made?

Xiaomi phones are a product of Chinese technology, where its earliest versions were assembled mainly from China. As the company grew in popularity, they had to expand their manufacturing sites in neighboring Asian countries.

In 2019, most of the Xiaomi phones sold in India were already being manufactured in the country. Considering the cost-effectiveness of the process, Xiaomi phones labeled as “made in India” were even exported to other countries at a regulated scale.

The production of Xiaomi phones based in India is run by Foxconn, a Taiwanese multinational electronics contract manufacturer. They have two separate facilities in the country; one is in the Sri City and the other in a town called Sriperumbudur, located in a south Indian state of Tamil Nadu.

Besides India, Xiaomi has also started to export phones made from Nepal and Bangladesh, still on a small scale. They are still trying to figure out the efficiency of the logistics in terms of costs.

The quality standards of their products remain a priority in all their manufacturing sites. Nevertheless, their headquarters remain in China, where a large percentage of their products are made.
