Xiaomi announced the new line of Mi 10 in early 2020 in 3 different variants and did very well for the Chinese phone giants. Fast forward to October 2020 and a new & updated line of the phone was announced called Mi 10T 5G.
The new Mi 10T 5G series offers a more budget-conscious option in the mid-ranger market. Mi 10T sits comfortably between entry-level Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite 5G and Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro 5G. All three of them bring 5G connectivity and premium hardware, albeit at more affordable prices than Xiaomi’s Mi 10 phones. They also bring some nifty new features to the table that you won’t find on Xiaomi Mi 10 phones. Here are some highlights you need to know about the Xiaomi Mi 10T 5G.
The phone packs quite an amazing list of specs, from screen to processor - camera to battery, they all impress.
Xiaomi Mi 10T comes with a Full HD+ (2400 x 1080 pixels) DotDisplay Screen with a maximum 144Hz refresh rate, with TÜV Rheinland Low Blue Light Certification. Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 865 with 5G processor, 64MP Triple rear camera set, and a 5000mAh Battery amongst other notable configurations.
As aforementioned, the Xiaomi Mi 10T 5G comes with a flat 6.67-inch Full HD+ display with a 144Hz adaptive sync refresh rate. An IPS LCD panel with AdaptiveSync technology and MEMC for ultra-smooth video. The 144Hz refresh rate means Scrolling is ultra-smooth and games look fantastic. Triple Corning® Gorilla® Glass 5 covering front, back and camera lenses of the phone, completes the front look.
The Xiaomi Mi 10T 5G is powered by the flagship level Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 865 with 5G Processor, which Qualcomm® say “ is the Most Advanced 5G Mobile Platform”.
The company also state that they are trusted by most phone manufacturers to power their 5G flagship devices in 2020, they claim that Snapdragon™ 865 is found in more than 70 announced or in-development designs. Its success is the result of decades of their R&D, engineering work, a series of industry-first 5G milestones, and deep optimization for key applications such as Google Mobile Services, culminating in the premium mobile experiences.
The Xiaomi Mi 10T 5G has a triple camera setup with 64MP (f/1.9, wide) + 13MP (f/2.4, ultra-wide) + 5MP (f/2.4, macro) lenses. The camera takes some really sharp images but more impressively shoots up to 8K @ 30fps. 4K goes up to 60fps and 1080p goes up 960fps. The selfie camera is a 20MP (f/2.2) snapper and can shoot 1080p up to 30fps.
With a power-hungry processor and a 144Hz display, you’d think the Xiaomi Mi 10T 5G would struggle with battery but in reality it does a pretty good job. The 5000mAh battery on the device proves more than capable even on a heavy day with e-mails buzzing, multiple chats and calls, some light gaming and even video-watching. Practically, the Xiaomi phone should survive a day of intensive use without any problems. If used sparingly, it will certainly last even two or more days at a time.
The Xiaomi Mi 10T series comes with MIUI 12 based on Android 10 preinstalled. MIUI 12 is a different take on Android, and like similar options, includes quite a few features intended to enhance the user experience.
Key features include Game Turbo, which lets you optimize performance for gaming. Mi Remote allows you to control media devices using the phone’s IR blaster. You also get a built-in screen recorder, QR code scanner, and a slew of other pre-installed apps, which can be deleted, and the high refresh rate and optimizations make for a smooth and responsive software experience.
Other noticeable specs of the Xiaomi Mi 10T consist of 8GB RAM with 128GB ROM, 33W Fast Charging (included in the box) with USB-C reversible connector port, which Xiaomi claim would take around 50 minutes to fully charge the battery. Multifunctional NFC with support for Google Pay, Side-mounted fingerprint sensor + AI face unlock, Dual super-linear speakers, Volte and VoWiFi if supported by the network operator, Silver ion anti-bacterial case + Anti-bacterial screen protector.
Anyone who waited for a more affordable alternative to the Xiaomi Mi 10 must be pleased that it was worth the wait. With specs like the Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 865 5G Processor, the 6.67-inch Xiaomi Mi 10T uses the same high-end SoC as its high-end counterpart and is, therefore, just as quick. The 5,000 mAh battery helps the Xiaomi Mi 10T achieve better overall runtimes. Another distinct spec of the phone is the 144Hz refresh rate. Compromises had to be made with the Xiaomi Mi 10T, but there aren't many, the lack of wireless charging, an IPS TFT HD+ screen as opposed to AMOLED display, which does a pretty good job and convinces with its high-brightness and high-contrast display. Currently, the Xiaomi Mi 10T is one of the cheapest smartphones with Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 865, which makes it even more attractive.
