Have you ever compared the Xiaomi Note 9 Pro with its identical twin? If you’re wondering what its twin is, look no further than the Xiaomi Note 9S. It may not be identical but it’s so close that calling it fraternal would just be wrong. Although both phones are excellent mid tier options, there are a few differences I would like to highlight here.

First, let’s start off with the water repellent coating or lack thereof with the Note 9 Pro. Xiaomi decided to make the Note 9S water resistant but did not offer the same feature for the Note 9 Pro.

Second, the main camera on the Note 9 Pro is why you would pay the slightly more expensive price. The Note 9 Pro comes with a 64 MP camera as opposed to the Note 9S which has the 48 MP camera. The aperture is slightly better at the f/1.9 instead of the Note 9S’s f/1.8, but I do not know how much of a difference that would make. All the other rear and selfie cameras are exactly the same between the Note 9 Pro and the Note 9S.

Lastly, the Xiaomi Note 9 Pro comes with NFC. This may not be that big of a deal to our users because they won’t be able to use Google Pay but if NFC is needed elsewhere it will be ready and available to use.

The Note 9 Pro does have 30 Watt fast charging capabilities as opposed to the 18 Watt charging capability on the Note 9S. Again, we’re not sure why Xiaomi decided to make this change on a phone that is otherwise almost identical to the Note 9S, but here you have the differences between the Note 9 Pro and the Note 9S.

The Note 9 Pro is an excellent phone and should last you a long time. You will not feel buyer’s remorse even after a year because of how much Xiaomi has packed into a ~$200 phone. I do not see any other brand coming close to Xiaomi when it comes to caring about customers at a lower price point.
