If ever there was a phone designed to catch the eye, it's the Honor 9X. With a bold and innovative design, it appears to tick all the boxes, with a great-looking screen but without a notch in sight, a 4000mAh battery, a 3.5mm headphone jack and a slot to stow a memory card to expand its already reasonable 128GB of memory.
This article is based on the Factory Unlocked International Version model of the Honor 9X, which you can purchased from here: So let’s take a look!
9X is unmistakably an Honor phone, and the rear is certainly its best angle. Once more, Honor has brought some flair to phone design, even on its more affordable offerings. After all, just because you want to spend less doesn't mean you want a boring phone, agreed?
There are only a few phones in the market that will pack as much spec as the Honor 9X with a price tag of sub $250. As mentioned above, this phone is a definite looker, it possess the power to attract attention, the 6.6 inch FHD+ screen does not have a hole, a notch or any sort of camera, instead there is a pop-up camera which means you get a full experience of your smartphone’s screen.
The Honor 9X packs a decent spec, with Kirin 710F Processor, 6GB RAM and 128GB ROM, with the ability to increase should there be any need, triple camera, 4000 mAh battery, finger print sensor at the read, headphone jack to name a few, which combined makes for a smooth performance.
As for the cameras, the Honor 9X’s cameras has been upgraded to triple cameras on the rear (48MP Wide, 8MP Ultrawide and 2MP Macro). With the main camera being the best out of the 3, It's all backed up with the excellent AI shooting mode from Honor phones, which does a great job of matching the shooting conditions and pre-tweaking images. If you're not looking to edit your shots or simply want them to pop on social media, it's certainly worth keeping it enabled.
The front camera is by far the star of the show here, it is discreetly tucked in a retractable arm, which pops out of the top of the phone when you switch between cameras in the app. It stays out until you return to the rear camera or leave the camera app, at which point it retracts neatly away.
The only bit of criticism is that, underneath its slick exterior, it’s hiding the same processor that appeared in last year’s model. Granted that there are a lot of other improvements made along the way, but without even an incremental increase in the core brain of the phone, it feels a bit disappointing, especially since this will be the last model of the X family with Google Mobile Services.
The Honor 9X stands out as one of the best designs for the category of phones, a full screen and a pop-up camera, a very distinct back design with which has the letter X in a sort of 3D pattern, all for a reasonable price.
