Description

The Amazon eero 6 is a dual-band mesh Wi-Fi 6 system designed to provide strong, consistent internet coverage throughout your home. Whether purchased as a standalone router or as part of a multi-unit system, eero 6 can cover areas ranging from approximately 1,500 square feet (single unit) to 4,500–5,000 square feet (three-pack). Its compact and modern design allows each unit to blend seamlessly into your home environment without drawing attention.

Built on the Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) standard, the eero 6 supports dual-band connectivity with speeds up to 900 Mbps. It uses 2x2 MU-MIMO to serve multiple devices simultaneously and is rated AX1800 for throughput. The main router includes two gigabit Ethernet ports, allowing wired connections to devices like smart TVs or gaming consoles. The satellite units use wireless backhaul to maintain communication with the main router, extending coverage throughout the house.

Setup is handled through the eero mobile app and is designed to be quick and intuitive. The system automatically optimizes traffic using eero’s TrueMesh technology, which helps eliminate dead zones and buffering by intelligently routing data across the network. Adding additional eero units to expand coverage is simple, making it easy to scale as needed.

One of the key features of the eero 6 is its built-in Zigbee and Thread smart home hub, which allows compatible smart devices—such as bulbs, locks, and sensors—to connect directly to the network. This eliminates the need for separate hubs. The system is also Alexa-compatible, enabling voice control features like pausing Wi-Fi on certain devices or checking connection status.

Security is managed automatically, with firmware updates delivered in the background. For those seeking additional protections and features, Amazon offers optional subscriptions to eero Secure and Secure+, which provide tools like ad blocking, content filtering, and advanced threat protection.

Overall, the Amazon eero 6 is an excellent choice for homes with moderate to high connectivity needs. It’s easy to install, delivers stable performance across multiple devices, and offers valuable smart home integration. While it’s not the fastest system available and lacks Ethernet ports on the satellite units, it strikes a strong balance between performance, design, and ease of use.

Ask a Question

Why are Unlocked phones better than Locked phones?

Whenever you are in the market to purchase a phone, you have a choice: do you buy an unlocked phone or a locked phone?

The answer is simple: Always go with an unlocked phone. Unlocked phones are better for several reasons:

  1. They are usually less expensive than a locked phone. Locked phones are typically sold by carriers (i.e. AT&T, Verizon etc) and they sell them for significantly more than what you'll find at Wireless Place.

  2. Unlocked phones can be used on almost any carrier anywhere in the world. You can take your phone with you when you travel abroad and just insert your SIM card into your unlocked phone. Begin using your phone via text, calls, data.

  3. Flexibility to switch carriers. If you find out that a phone carrier is going to give you a better price than the current carrier you're using, go ahead and switch. Simply insert the new SIM card into your unlocked phone and begin using it.
