Samsung A32 Unlocked: A Competent Mid-Ranger

Samsung has constantly refreshed designs in the Galaxy A Series over the last 18 months, and the Galaxy A32 is no exception. The phone has a minimalist design and borrows the camera rings from the Galaxy S21 series. Other noticeable upgrades include the eye-catching AMOLED Display, a massive battery, amongst other additions.

Beginning with the screen, the 4G/LTE version of the Samsung Galaxy A32 has a 6.4-inch Full HD+ Resolution (2400 X 1080) Super AMOLED Screen with a 90Hz Refresh Rate. You can choose between Vivid and Natural screen modes and manually change the color temperature. The screen is set to the normal 60Hz refresh rate out of the box, so you'll have to modify it to 90Hz in the settings.

The panel itself is just as good as its predecessor, the Galaxy A31, with bold colors and great contrast levels. The 90Hz refresh rate does make a noticeable difference in a few scenarios such as scrolling through social media or browsing in Chrome, it is awesome.

A distinguishing factor for the Galaxy A32 is the 64MP camera at the back. The primary lens sits in the middle of the camera set, with the 8MP wide-angle lens mounted above and the 5MP portrait lens. Right above the LED flash module sits the 5MP macro lens. There's a 20MP front camera as well that's unchanged from last year's Galaxy A31.

Under the hood, the Galaxy A32 is powered by MediaTek Helio G80 Processor SoC coupled with up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB internal storage (expandable up to 1TB with a microSD card).

The Galaxy A32's 5,000 mAh battery seems sufficient for two days of light use and will last you until bedtime even with heavy use. This is possible with both the high refresh rate turned on and off, so it's a pretty impressive.

Samsung went with a different design for the back of the phone with a minimalistic approach that includes a plain back without any fancy patterns, and on the Galaxy A32, the camera sensors just stick out from the main body instead of having a dedicated island of their own.

Samsung also made welcome changes to the software, with the Galaxy A32 running One UI 3.1 based on Android™ 11 out of the box. Samsung's latest UI refresh doesn't bring too many visual improvements, but it does a fantastic job of incorporating all of the new features in Android™ 11. The Galaxy A32's best feature is that it will receive three guaranteed Android™ updates and four years of security updates. Samsung is the de facto leader in this area, and while the A32 won't be the fastest to get the Android™ 12 update when it eventually arrives later this year, it will get more updates than almost every other phone in this segment.
